OLD TESTAMENT

The Old Testament is the first part of the Christian Bible as well as part of the Jewish text.

The Old Testament begins with God’s creation of the Earth. Once sin enters the world, God’s relationship with humanity is broken. God begins to repair the broken relationship with humanity, starting with a man named Abraham, the father of the nation of Israel. The Old Testament contains the history of the Israelites, God’s chosen people, as well as books of wisdom, poetry, and prophecy.

Although the books of the Old Testament all take place before Jesus was born, they point to God’s promise of a Savior.
